Nominal clauses

Nominal clause
This type of clause fills the subject or object slot in a sentence.

Examples
I asked her why she had come.
He felt that he needed to leave.
She told her mother she would be late home.
That she was angry was obvious.
How the album will do depends on the fans.

Although we do not specifically teach nominal clauses at primary level, it is useful for teachers to be aware of these, since children will use these structures in their writing (particularly in reported speech) and will come across them in texts.
